Marcelino Mercado, 92, was born April 15, 1928 in Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico. He passed away at Memorial Hospital on March 31, 2021 in Colorado Springs. While in Mexico, he worked at the mine in Fresnillo for eighteen years before coming to the United States. He came to the United States at the age of 32, where he worked at La Tolteca Foods for eleven years. He later went into construction where he worked the remainder of his career. Marcelino was a hardworking, resilient, and determined man, who always provided for his family. Marcelino is preceded in death by his loving wife, Alice Mercado and his loving daughter, Martha Mercado. He is survived by his 7 children; 5 children with his first wife, Socorro Pizana, who are Benita (Edward) Portillos, Jesus (Carmen) Mercado, Tono (Marina) Mercado, Carmela (Manuel) Rangel and Luis (Sandra) Mercado, 2 children with his second wife, Alice Mercado, who are Marcelino Edward Mercado and Robert Mercado. Marcelino also has numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He will be remembered for his endearing kind words. He will be greatly missed by his loving family.
