Mr. Manuel Rito Salinas died peacefully in Albuquerque, NM at the age of 85 on November 25, 2016. Manuel was surrounded by love.
He is survived by his children, Loretta, Frances, James, and Nicole Salinas, and Carl, Christopher, Elizabeth, and Stephanie Lujan; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Manuel was preceded in death by his daughter, Jacqueline Salinas; parents, Guadalupe and Manuel A. Salinas; and former spouse, Shirley Salinas.
Manuel Rito Salinas was born on February 28, 1931 in the city of Los Angeles, CA. Manuel grew up on the rowdy and bustling streets of Los Angeles the oldest of 10 children. As a young man, Manuel’s family moved to Albuquerque and this is where Manuel enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing in New Mexico’s beautiful landscape. Manuel had a passion for carpentry, building, and design but supported his family as a Fireman and Paramedic in the Albuquerque Fire Department. Joining the AFD in 1957, Manuel enjoyed a long career in service to the city of Albuquerque retiring in his early fifties. It was then that he developed a love of golfing, which he enjoyed with his sons and his good friends. Manuel was a loving, devoted father whose favorite pastime was to enjoy time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren eating, drinking, and laughing.
A Rosary will be recited Friday, December 9, 2016, 8:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Annunciation Parish, 2621 Vermont NE in Albuquerque.
