Manuel J. Fuentes, 89, of Comfort, passed away peacefully at his beloved ranch on Sunday, July 24, 2022.
Manuel was born in Kerrville, Texas on January 3, 1933 to Seferino Fuentes and Agatha Juarez. Manuel was educated through the third grade. At ten years of age, he was introduced to flying by a family friend. His love of flying became his career as a self taught airplane mechanic. He worked hard, studied, earned his certifications and became the lead avionics mechanic, traveling on the first flight test of newly manufactured planes.
Manuel enjoyed camping, fishing, swimming and deer hunting. He loved being with his family, spending time with his wife, children, son-in-laws, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He was a kind man, had a good heart, and a very determined spirit to complete whatever task he attempted. He put the needs of his family ahead of himself.
Surviving is his wife of seventy years, Mary Fuentes of Comfort; his children, Rita Trevino and Cindy Acevedo of San Antonio, and Manuel Fuentes, Jr of Washington, DC; and his sisters, Maria Cuarenta, Patsy Rios and Marylou Hernandez. Manuel was preceded in death by his son, David Victor Fuentes; and his sisters, Juanita Jimenez and Susan ’Susie’ Garcia.
