Manuel F. Fortuna, a 39 year resident of Stoughton passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was 91 years old and the beloved husband of the late Lucilia J. (DaFonte) Fortuna.
Mr. Fortuna is survived by his children, Rafael Fortuna and his wife Alda of Toronto, Canada, Gorette F. Rebelo and her husband Abel of Stoughton, Armando M. Fortuna and his wife Antonina of Stoughton, Humberto M. Fortuna and his wife Maria of Stoughton, Lino M. Fortuna of Canton, Albertina Avelar of N. Providence, Rhode Island, Luis C. Fortuna of Stoughton and Maria Lourdes Cabral and her husband George of Cranston, Rhode Island, his brother Jose Fortuna of Cambridge, Ontario, Canada, his sister Ana Faria of Stoughton his twelve grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Manuel was preceaded in death by his sisters Maria Amelia Tomaz, Rosa Vargas, his brother Antonio F. Fortuna and his grandson Nicholas F. Rebelo.
Born in Faial, Acores, Portugal on October 15, 1921 he was a son to the late Joaquim Furtado Fortuna and Maria da Gloria da Silva.
Manuel was an avid fan of the Benfica Portuguese National Soccer Team, an avid farmer back in the Acores and a man who loved gardening and yard work. He was employed as a machine operator at the Acme Boot Company (Formerly the Corcoran Shoe Co.) for 10 years.
