Manuel Everett Cantrell went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 28, 2016, following a stroke after a courageous battle with colon cancer. He was born December 13, 1936 at home in Sharp County Arkansas, to Alvin Fletcher Cantrell and Vera Olive (Milligan) Cantrell. He and his family moved to Anderson in 1944. He attended Franklin Elementary, Forest Hills Junior High and Anderson High School. He was employed at Delco Remy Division of General Motors, in Plants 3,7,10,4,8,11,17 and 20 until his retirement from the White Room in Plant 17 in 1993.

He served his country as a proud member of the Indiana National Guard from 1954 until 1960 and was activated during the strike at the Perfect Circle Piston plant in New Castle in 1955.

He married Guitanna (Toni) Allen in 1956 and they recently celebrated their 60th anniversary.

He accepted Jesus as his Savior and joined Landmark Baptist Church in 1991, where served as head usher and trustee for more than 20 years.

He had been a dedicated model airplane, helicopter and drone enthusiast since 1959, member of American Modeler’s Association (AMA), Anderson Aero Modeler’s Club and Madison County RC Flyers.

He owned and enjoyed several motorcyles, belonging to the Elwood Two-Wheelers Club, with whom he took several trips, among them the Blue Ridge Parkway, Gatlinburg and Maggie Valley. He and Toni bought a red Corvette to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary, subsequently and joined the Corvette Club, participating in rallys, fun weekend events and trips.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Toni, two sons, Dennis Cantrell of Bolingbrook, IL, (wife Marjorie) and Terry Cantrell (Jennifer Robbins) in Goldsboro, NC, granddaughter, Angela Wanner, grandson, Corey Cantrell, and great-grandson, Brandon Wanner.

He is also survived by his brother, Tom Cantrell, sister-in-law, Beverly and two nephews, Matt and Mike Cantrell and their families, dear friend, Angela Hodson and her daughters, Haley and Halle, as well as a loving church family. He was preceded in death by his parents.
