Mr. Mangle Lee “ML” Causey, 75, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 2, 2022 at Elkhart General Hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Sikeston, Missouri on July 19, 1946 to the late Cephas W. “Goodness” and Ollie Bell (Causey) Taylor. He later married Diana “Ann” Gates on October 31, 2000 in Elkhart. She survives at home in Elkhart.

Surviving ML is his son, Michael L. (Desiree Wilson) Gates-Causey and his daughter, Michelle L. Gates-Causey, both of Elkhart; sisters Ruth (Leonard) Bloch-Wiley and Mary (Rev. V. Wayne) Malone, both of Elkhart, and Rita Davis of South Bend; grandchildren Indika, Dorothy Lynn, DeShon, Nekoya, Mikyah, Mia and Michael, Jr. and his Auntie Ruth Mack of South Bend. He is also survived by a loving host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and good friends.

Preceding ML in death are his brothers Jimmie Clark and Charles, Homer and Robert Taylor III, as well as sisters Maybelle Lacey, Dorothy Powell and Chinese “CC” Taylor.

ML worked fore nearly 20 years in construction, then another 20 as a machinist at Elkhart’s RAMCO Engineering. Although ML was not afraid of a little work, he’d always prefer spending time with his family and his grandchildren, whom he just adored! He also liked to be outdoors whenever he could and loved to not only entertain friends with his home-cooked BBQing talents, but he loved to make the rounds to all the neighbors to sample a little bit of their BBQ as well. He was always a sharp dresser, loved all types of music, and was very comfortable with his Christian beliefs and values. As a matter of fact, many would say he was the best “unordained” lay preacher around.

Finally, it should be mentioned that ML valued the traits of truth and sincerity. He would always say that if you’re going to say something, say it from the heart. We believe that ML will be sorely missed by his earthly family, but excitedly welcomed by his heavenly family. To God goes all the Glory!
