Mandy Elizabeth Allen (33) was born on November 13, 1989, in Ogden, Utah to Bret and Berit Allen.  As a child Mandy was diagnosed with epilepsy and cerebral palsy, but that didn’t stop Mandy’s tenacious and stubborn spirit.  Mandy had an adventurous childhood. Defying the odds she learned to swim, ride a bike, ski, snowboard, and water ski. Mandy loved to compete in the Special Olympics, winning gold and silver medals in bowling, track, swimming, and basketball.

More astounding than her physical abilities was her loving spirit. Mandy was accepting of everyone and cared deeply for those around her. She never withheld a smile or a compliment. Doctors said she would never speak, but once again Mandy proved them wrong. She talked every chance she got. She was never afraid to chat up total strangers and she made sure she called every family member every day. She was always the popular one in the family.  When out and about everyone else was referred to as “Mandy’s Dad/Mom/Sister” because Mandy was the obvious star. She had the ability to capture hearts everywhere she went.

While Mandy had many fans, she definitely had her favorite people. Mandy loved to travel with her mom.  From the beaches of Hawaii to a hotel in Ogden, Mandy was content to order some chicken nuggets, buy a t-shirt, and sit by the pool.  She didn’t care where she was as long as she was with her mom. Mandy never wanted to be gone for too long though because she missed her best buddy, her dad. The two of them loved spending time watching silly Youtube videos together, ordering pizza, and stopping by the gas station for a treat.  Mandy also enjoyed spending time with her “big sis” Morgan; going to the gym, library, or belting out songs in the car. The two of them were extremely close and had a special bond.  Through Morgan, Mandy gained a brother and whole other family that she quickly claimed as her own. Mandy had always loved babies but was elated when she found out she was going to be an aunt. Her niece and nephew loved doing arts and crafts and being goofy with her. Tuesdays were reserved for Mandy’s bestie, Angie. They’d usually go to lunch and then do some shopping or get their nails done.  Mandy loved to tell Angie all her stories, short and tall, and Angie was always good to listen.

Mandy experienced a severe seizure and ultimately passed away in the hospital on November 21, 2022. Because of Mandy’s caring spirit and her monumental capacity to love it was decided that Mandy would have wanted to be an organ donor. Mandy’s infectious laugh, propensity for forgiveness, child-like countenance, and joyous disposition was always a blessing to those who had the honor of spending time with her.

She leaves behind her “buddy” Bret Allen, her “big spoon” Berit Allen, her “big sis” Morgan Toomer, her “broder” Scooter Toomer, her nephew Hendrix Toomer, her niece Roux Toomer, her “Daddy Dave” David White, her “bestie” Angie Bellus, and many many adoring friends and family. She will be welcomed in heaven by several grandparents and great grandparents, her friend Bryan, and her cat Tommy.

One of the things Mandy loved was going to Camp Kostopulos every summer.
