Mamie (Hajjar) Craig entered into eternal rest on Saturday, October 8th, 2022 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 94 . Mamie passed 5 days after her soulmate and husband of 62 years, Larry, departed this earth.
We find peace in knowing that they are rejoicing hand in hand in heaven.
Mamie was born August 27, 1928, in Danbury, CT to Effie (Corbin) Hajjar and Faris Hajjar. Mamie graduated from Danbury High School in 1946 and upon graduation, she worked for the Lee family as a nurse for their twin baby girls. Mamie later worked as a nurse for the Saint Agnes Home in West Hartford, which was a residential care facility for young mothers and infants.
Later after raising her two daughters, she spent the rest of her career as a Senior Communications Operator working at the Ethan Allen headquarters in Danbury. She worked there for 30 years until her retirement at the age of 80 years old.
Mamie met the love of her life, Lawrence Craig, on Valentine’s Day and they later married in 1959. Together they raised two beautiful daughters, Regina Craig of Danbury and Mary (Dan) Reisert of Danbury. She had three grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Ryan Reisert of Glastonbury CT, Alison (Liam) Fay of Pawling NY, and Danielle Reisert of Danbury. Mamie was predeceased by her beloved sister Nancy (Hajjar) Stea. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cherished friends and neighbors. Mamie was known for her generous and kind soul. Making friends with cashiers and any stranger that she came across. She had a way of empathizing with everyone and making you feel loved and cared for. She enjoyed cooking and cleaning and she always made sure everyone was fed. Her beautiful heart and warm hugs will be deeply missed.
