Mrs. Mamie Elizabeth “Mabeth” Myers, age 90, of Valley, AL, died August 7, 2014 at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA.
Mrs. Myers is survived by her sons, Thomas Dean (Pam Frazier) Myers of Columbus, GA and Frank Austin (Terri Cassata) Myers of Mansfield, TX; four grandchildren, Anne Elizabeth Ifantis of Pooler, GA, Sarah Gardner Shotwell of Lagrange, KY, Michael Austin Myers of Mansfield, TX, and Patricia Ann (Kevin) Murray of Beaverton, OR; four great grandchildren, Sophia Lee Ifantis of Pooler, GA, Abigail Piper Shotwell, Betsy Ann Shotwell, and Charlie David Shotwell, all of LaGrange, KY; sister, Marion Piper Spear of Havana, FL.
Mrs. Myers was the daughter of the late Frank Ridley Piper and Ollie Garnder Piper. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Billie Dean Myers and her brother, Frank Ridley Piper, Jr.
Born on October 19, 1923 in Fairfax, Mrs. Myers was a graduate of West Point High School, attended Huntingdon College and graduated from Auburn University in 1943. Mrs. Myers was a former employee of Lanier Memorial Hospital where she was director of the Medical Records Department for over 30 years. During that time she was very active in the Alabama Medical records Association, serving on many committees and also as President. She was a charter member of the Valley Vagabond Camping Club, enjoying many years of camping and travel that included stops all over North America, including Alaska and Canada, as well as several wonderful trips to Europe.
