Mamie Compton Wilson, 96, of the Leatherwood Community in Henry County, died Friday, March 4, 2011 in Blue Ridge Rehab. Born May 4, 1914 in Henry County, Mrs. Wilson was a daughter of the late William Riley Compton and Sallie Wall Compton and was the wife of the late Morgan Wilson, Jr. Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by a sister, Frances C. Moore and by two brothers, James W. Compton and H. Clay Compton. She was a member of Granbery United Methodist Church and retired after 20 years of service with Sale Knitting Co. in the packing department. Surviving are two daughters, Louise W. Wall of Axton and Virginia W. Johnston of Farmville; three sisters, Mattie C. Davis of Axton, Vergie C. Herndon of Danville and Nell C. Lovell of Martinsville; three grandchildren, Terri W. Hardin, Tana J. Johnson and Dene M. Johnston and by two great-grandchildren, Eddie Sotomayor and Olivia Johnson.
