Missionary Malinda Mae Moore was born on December 17, 1928, in Portland, Oregon to her parents, Samuel Gilliard and Renna Carroll Gilliard. She was the ten child out of eleven children born in the family. She was raised surrounded by her siblings, Henry, Jr., Robert, Kelton, Ralph, David, Ritz, Ruth, Ernestine, Hattie, Edna and Dollie. As a child, she enjoyed working with arts and crafts. She also loved helping her mother. She received her formal education in Denver, Colorado, where she graduated from high school. She furthered her education by completing courses in which she earned her certification to become a Registered Nurse. Malinda met and later married Newton Henry Moore. They were high school sweethearts. They enjoyed dancing, listening to jazz music and sharing with family and friends. To this union, Rochelle, Malinda and Julius were born. They remember her as being a loving and devoted mother who wanted them to always do their best in whatever goals and aspirations they set. She was later blessed with eight grandchildren, Terrence, Adrian, Cristina, Reen, Mary, Matthew, Tyler and Charles. The family shared many happy and precious moments together. By profession, Malinda was a Registered Nurse. She worked in the Surgical Department as well as, the Critical Care Unit in Mercy Hospital and other Denver area hospitals. Wherever she worked, Malinda performed her duties with a spirit of excellence. After she retired, she continued working in home health care.
