In Loving Memory
Malinda A. “Cutie” Trisler

On February 12, 2010, Mrs. Malinda Augusta “Cutie” Trisler passed from this life. A descendant of the early settlers of Catahoula and Concordia Parishes in lineage of the Jackson, Scott, Foreman, as well as, Trisler Families, she was born April 12, 1916 in Mayna, Louisiana. Parents were Walter Cleveland and Minerva Foreman Trisler.

The sixth born in a family of eleven children, she was reared to early assume the duties expected of all members of a rural family of that place and era in the efforts of sustenance and survival. She thus became proficient in the activities of the forest and field, in addition to those of the home. She was an excellent hunter and marksman, knew and applied the rudiments of tending livestock and crops through the much use of such implements as the marking knife for the one and the hoe for the other. Being reared along the banks of the Black River she also experienced in her younger years the irregular displacement by flood waters and the intense levels of activities and unrest associated with the removal of farm household and live property.

In 1942 she married a distant kinsman, James H. Trisler, from which union was born two sons, Walter H. and Kenneth W. Trisler. She is survived by both sons and their families, which, to her, include Walter and Sue Trisler of Start, Louisiana, and from that line granddaughter, Tara L. Trisler Maddox, husband, Robert, MD of Start, Louisiana and their six children: grandson Patrick A. Trisler, wife Shannon White Trisler of Pineville, Louisiana and their five children: and granddaughter Amy C. Trisler Booth, husband, Aaron of Monroe, Louisiana and their four children; Kenneth and wife, Kay Trisler, also of Start, Louisiana, and their family members, grandson Paul B. Trisler, M.D. of Shreveport, Louisiana, his son; and wife Gina and their three children, plus granddaughter Laura Trisler Mulhern and husband John of Rayville and their four children. She is also survived by sisters Mrs. Juanita Trisler Paul of Deville, Louisiana; Mrs. Faith Trisler Gemar of Mayna, Louisiana; and Mrs. Maude (Betsy) Trisler Calhoun of Calhoun Bend, Louisiana, as well as a host of nieces and nephews and their families.
