Obituary of Malcolm Pike
PIKE, Dr. Malcolm B. of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was 70 years old. Malcolm Bruce Pike was born on May 31, 1944 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Maurice and Mae (Addelson) Pike. He married Diane Schulz in January 23, 1983; she survives him. Malcolm graduated from Arthur Hill High School with the Class of 1962. He graduated from Ferris State University, and then went to the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago. After earning his doctorate’s degree in 1971, he opened his practice in Saginaw in July 1972. He touched many lives with his practice. He was on the Board of Directors for the March of Dimes, Past President of the Temple B’nai Israel, active in community service, especially Diabetic Foot Care Seminars, the Michigan State Podiatric Association, the South East Michigan Podiatric Association, and the President of Pikeville Self Storage. He had a love of automobiles—especially street racing. Most of all, he enjoyed his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife of 31 years, J.D. “Diane”; two daughters: Wendy Schulz and Heather Grunwell; three grandchildren; Dalton Wendling, Jessica Smith, Layla Schulz; brother, Allan (Marney) Pike; brother-in-law, Pastor DeWayne (Carla) Dean; sister-in-law, Billie Carole; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Dr. Pike was a co-founder of the Sunday Evening Philosophical Society along with his good friend, David Oberschmidt. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Ford Rolland Sargent, IV; brother, Lawrence Pike; and brother-in-law, Jerome Dean. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice of Michigan for their merciful care, as well his office staff who have served him faithfully for many years.
