Madge Culbertson Lay, age 96, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at the Monarch House in Newnan surrounded by her family. She was born on December 7, 1924, in Nickelsville, Virginia, to the late Onza Scott Culbertson and Lillian Harris Culbertson. Madge was lovingly called “Mom” by her large, adoring family. She will always be cherished and remembered for her long life of service to others and for her commitment to her Lord. Along with her parents, Madge is preceded in death by her husband, William Claude Lay; granddaughter, Tracy Parrish; brother, Kenneth Culbertson; and sister, Nell Kilgore. Madge is survived by her children, Shelba Stark and her husband Jeff, Bill Lay and his wife Sherry, David Lay and his wife Diane, Lisa Dunn and her husband Mike; grandchildren, Jodi Brooks (Kyle), Jeffrey Stark (Alicia), Kristi Waddell (Rick), Kerri Maddock (Mike), Kim Nesbitt (Jay), Kevin Lay (Sarah), Jeremy Lay (Ali), Kyle Lay (Michelle), Justin Dunn (Jessica), Megan Fields (Clayton), Austin Dunn (Gayle); great grandchildren, Dalton, Cory, Amanda, William, Edward, Thomas, Molly, Macy, Lilly, Harper, Jack, Grace, Cody, Avery, Libby, Callie, Bowden, Amanda, Mason, Alexander, Sienna, Katelyn, Caleb, Tripp, Ivey, Delaney, Remi Kate, Hadley and Colton. She is also survived by siblings, Gerald Culbertson, Carol Kilbourne (Eugene), and her brother-in-law whom she loved as her own, John Lay (Maureene).
