SALEM – Madelyn Jane Wilms, age 89, died peacefully at 8:40 a.m. Monday, April 1, 2019 while residing at Shepherd of the Valley, Boardman. She was born February 5, 1930 in Tollesboro, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Clemond and Helen (Gidding) Trumbo.
Graduating in 1947 from Tollesboro High School, she moved to Cincinnati to attend and graduate from the Marinello Beauty College. While working in Cincinnati as a cosmetologist, she met her best friend and love, R. Lee Wilms and married June 30, 1956. They celebrated 46 years of marriage before Lee passed away in February 2003. During those years, they resided in five states and raised two children.
Madelyn enjoyed hospitality and opening her home to everyone. She enjoyed life as a homemaker, serving others and the Lord, she was a lifelong member of Beta Sigma Phi (a service sorority), enjoyed traveling, sewing and spending time with her family and grandchildren. A member of the First Christian Church, she treasured her friends in the Faithful Friends Sunday School class.
She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her son, Brian (Michelle) Wilms of Salem and daughter, Trudi (Randy) Young of Battle Creek, MI; and her nine precious grandchildren, Crystal Votaw, Matthew, Gretchen, Courtney, Dalton, Makenna and Makalyn Wilms, Mark (Nicole) Bregar and Laura Bregar; and ten great-grandchildren.
She was the youngest of four children, three of those brothers, Charles, twins: Ray and Clay Trumbo, now deceased.
