Madalene Allison, 86, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2006, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend.
Madalene was born on February 22, 1920, in Huntington, Indiana, to the late William and Genevieve (Shoemaker) Smith. On March 23, 1964, as Madalene Smith, she married Albert E. Allison, who preceded her in death on November 3, 2004. Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Count, Harry, Paul Falk and Russell Smith ; two sisters, Helen Arndt and Evangeline (at age two); and by a grandson, Jeffrey Brown.
She is survived by her children from her marriage to George A. Swartz, Carole J. (Richard) Kent of Parrish, Florida, Susan K. (Bill) Brown of South Bend, and Linda L. (Ames) Templeton of Galien, Michigan; her two sons, Michael E. (Kathy) Swartz of Jones, Michigan and Harold D. “Smitty” (Maryann) Swartz of South Bend; loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and by a sister, Vivian (Morris) Yergeau of Niles, Michigan.
Mrs. Allison worked as a Nurses Aid for the Osteopathic Hospital in South Bend for 10 years. She was a member of the Sunnyside Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed the organ classes she took at Shirks Piano and Organ with other Senior Citizens for four years. She was an avid crocheter and knitter and shared her things with her friends and family.
