Macel E. Swiger, 79, peacefully passed away to heaven on Tuesday, July 5, surrounded by her loving family after an 8 year battle with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. Born on October 7, 1931 in Parkersburg, WV and a resident of Haywood, WV for 38 years, she and her husband, Everett, moved to Palm Bay, FL in January 2011.Macel was a Bridgeport High School majorette, a devoted homemaker, wonderful cook and baker, an animal lover, and a former dental assistant/technician. She was a Christian who dedicated her life to loving and supporting her family as well as devoting time to support people in need. As a mother, she provided her daughters with stability in their lives and was a wonderful role model instilling valuable morals and values. Macel enjoyed singing with her family, watching the Good Life channel, watching Shirley Temple movies, and listening to her favorite gospel groups especially The Gaithers. The most recent joy in her life was to be able to travel back to Fairmont, WV in May to attend and celebrate her eldest grandson’s, Christopher’s, graduation from Fairmont State University Nursing School, to meet her grandson’s, Danny’s, girlfriend, Christina, and to visit her great grand-daughter, Lynnesea, along with meeting her second great-grandchild, Emily, for the first time. This was a trip that she was medically not able to make but with her determination and motivation, she made it. She couldn’t stop talking about how much this trip meant to her. It was a trip that made her life complete. She loved life and will be dearly missed by her loving family, dear friends, and beloved pets. A loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, her joy in life was to spend time with her loving family and beloved pets. Her family includes her husband of 38 years Everett Swiger; daughter, Sharon P. Latner and husband, Gregory of Palm Bay, FL; step-son, Donald Swiger and wife, Judy of New Castle, PA; step-daughter, Sandra Swiger of Beaver, PA; son-in-law; Michael Conner of Shinnston; grandchildren, Robert Scott Caniford and wife, Nao of Lake Worth, FL; Christopher M. Conner of Fairmont, WV; Daniel E. Conner of Hutchinson, WV; and Molly I. Conner Bradley and husband, Richard Bradley of Hutchinson, WV.; great-grandchildren, Lynnesea and Emily Bradley of Hutchinson, WV ; one sister, Hollace Bartlett, Oakland, MD; her two cats, Snowball and Tiger and two dogs, Missy and Macey. She was preceded by her parents, Ernest and India Wilson of Clarksburg, WV; daughters, Connie Lee Perkins of Clarksburg, WV and Deborah “Debi” Perkins Conner of Shinnston, WV; and brother, Lorren Wilson of Spencer, WV.
