Mac was born on July 28, 1942 in Renton, Washington and grew up in Payette and Boise, Idaho. He graduated from Borah High School in 1960 and attended BJC – Boise Junior College. Mac served in the U.S. Army. He was a true patriot with a sincere love of our country.
He was a kind, generous, fun loving son, dad and brother. He loved music, baseball, history, reading, biking, and cats. Most of all he loved being Adrianna’s Dad. She was a constant in the center of his thoughts.
Mac was one of those accepting people who recognized the good in others and gave space for them to be who they were. His unending wit and sense of humor made everything seem right with the world.
A true big brother and friend to five sisters, he was always there when he was needed, always giving what was needed. His love for learning, his optimism and his humor were among his greatest gifts. As an avid reader and a lover of challenging mind games, he set the pace for learning – playing games and sharing knowledge to everyone’s benefit.
Mac loved music and could “Name that Tune and Artist” for any song performed in the 1950s, 60s, or 70s. He was an LA Dodgers fan with every players’ card he could collect. From 3 years old when his tricycle was his favorite toy, his bike remained his favorite mode of transportation.
Mac’s longterm career was as a Hotel Manager for the Cabana Inn in Downtown Boise.
His great interest and love for all things historical, led him to establish and edit the Idaho Historical Round-Up, an Idaho historical publication.
We will miss you our big brother and my loving father, we love you very much, may you rest in Peace until we meet again.
Mac is survived by: Daughter (Adrianna Meyer), his sisters and spouses (Pattie and Wes Klitzman, Boise – Janet Haffner and Rick Sheldon, Shelton, Boise – Jo and Barry Rose, Boise – Susie and Jack Miltenberger, Boise – Katy and Alan Ray, Clinton, MS), and his kitty (Elwood).
Mac was preceded in death by his mother (Virginia Meyer), Father (Bruce Meyer), and his kitties (Bandit and Mr. B)
