Mable Miller-McGrew was born November 30, 1930, to the late Arnett & Josephine (Sims) Miller. She departed this life on June 8, 2022 at the Choctaw Health and Rehabilitation Center in Butler, AL. Mable was a very honest and caring person who loved her family. She enjoyed cooking for everyone and loved nothing more than having her children close and spending time with family and friends. Mable was a faithful and loving mother, hardworking, strict, and witty. She as a role model to her family.
She professed a hope in Christ at an early age and became a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church. She loved being active and involved in the workings of the Church and made sure her children had a relationship with the Lord. Even as her faculties began to wane, she was never angry, sad, or depressed – she would have you write in her hand, everything from conversations to Sunday School lessons, and keep pushing forward. Her spirit was one of a kind and we are proud to have been able to call Mable our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend.
She leaves to cherish her lasting memories: eight children, Donald (Fannie) Leverett of Butler, AL; Reginald (Doreitha) Leverett of Millry, AL; Brenda (Finnis) Cole of Hattiesburg, MS; Larry (Denise) Napier of Columbus, Ohio; Charles (Patsy) Miller of Birmingham, AL; Tony (Erica) Miller of Birmingham, AL; Yolanda Thornton of Toxey, AL; Stacy (Tonya) Miller of Memphis, TN; four sisters, Josephine Rush and Margie Porch of Mobile, AL; Gertrude Jones of Toxey, AL and Betty Price of Los Angeles, CA; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and cousins.
Preceding her in death were three children: Doris Bolden, Jerry Leverett, and Derrick Miller, one great-grandchild, Tempie Dailey; two sisters, Stella Brown, and Rosetta Anderson and two brothers, Arnett Miller Jr., and John Miller Sr. As we mourn her passing, we will all continue to celebrate her life.
