Mable “Nudie” Mary Brown was born on July 19, 1933 in Saint Joseph, Missouri to Robert and Agnes McGaughy. She was the fifth child of eleven children. The entire McGaughy family was very close knit and all of her siblings have many fond memories of a great childhood raised by very loving parents, aunts and uncles. During her high school years Mable was asked to go along to a dance with her sister Rose and date. They had set up a blind date for Mable but she said she would go with anyone as long as it wasn’t that “Ole Gordon Brown”. Needless to say she married him on April 12, 1952! They fondly cherished the celebrations they had on their 25th, 45th and 61st wedding anniversaries. To this union they had three children – Gordon Jr., Norma and Keith. In 1957 Gordon moved Mable and the children to Denver.
