Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and tia, Mabelle passed from this life on November 27, 2021 in her 73rd year, at home in the presence of family. Born and raised in Los Arabos, Cuba, Mabelle arrived in the U.S. in 1961 as part of the Operation Pedro Pan. She graduated Cum Laude from Holy Family Academy High School in Beaverview, IL and with a degree in mathematics from the University of Miami.
Mabelle will be remembered for her loving and generous heart. She strove to emulate her beloved saint- San Martin de Porres the patron saint of charitable work, acts of compassion for the sick, and social justice.
She was survived by her loving husband, Adelino Martins, daughter Gina, stepson Paulo and two granddaughters. Mabelle is also survived by her sister Haydee Florez (Luis) and dear friend Martha Guerra. She was preceded in death by her former husband Juan Horea, her sister Julia Riquelme, and brothers Raul and Miguel Hernandez.
She will be missed by her friends and family.
