M. Louise Groomes, 85, of Westminster, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2017, at Carroll Lutheran Village. Born July 27, 1931 in Eldersburg, she was the daughter of the late George Drechsler and Myrle (Fair) Drechsler. She was the wife of the late Worthington S. Groomes who passed away in 1996.
She worked side by side with her husband Worthy on a dairy farm for 25 years. After selling the farm she worked in housekeeping at Carroll Hospital Center for 131/2 years until she retired.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Sandra Groomes of Union Bridge, Mark and Sandy Groomes of Taneytown and John and Dee Dee Groomes of Westminster, daughter and son-in-law Deborah and Mike Johnson of Littlestown, PA, a sister Betty Cummings, brothers James Drechsler of Millers, Herman Drechsler of Taneytown and Gilbert Drechsler of Westminster, grandchildren Michael Johnson and wife Rachel, Brian Johnson and wife Sharnell, Jodie Johnson, Leah Stum and husband Aaron, Hannah Groomes Stewart and husband Jason, James Groomes and Joshua Groomes, great-grandchildren Alyssa, Vincent, Ethan, Jesse, Ella, Ian and Parker.
She was predeceased by brothers Lindsay Drechsler, George “Bud” Drechsler, Jr. and Leslie Drechsler.
