M. Joan Patterson passed away August 28, 2021, leaving this earthly life to join the love of her life, her husband, Jack D. Patterson. Joan was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada to Percy Donald Murdoch and Anna Layne Smith on September 20, 1932.

Joan met Jack in early 1950 after Jack returned from his mission. They were sealed in the Cardston Alberta LDS Temple on December 6, 1950. They were residents of Clinton, Utah where together they worked on the family farm and raised their family. Together they shared a nearly seventy-one-year love affair.

Apart from raising their children and working on the farm, Mom held numerous callings in the LDS Church from Ward Relief Society President to Stake Relief Society President.

After retirement, she went on to serve LDS Missions in both Vermont and North Carolina with her eternal companion, as well as, serving at the Bishop’s Storehouse.

Mom was an avid quilter and shared her talent with family and many people through her humanitarian efforts.

Mom and Dad traveled to all different parts of the world, making friends everywhere they went.

Her famous homemade noodles served on plates, roasted chicken supper, and divine rolls will be remembered fondly by all her grandchildren. Mom left a legacy of hard work, integrity, and faith which lives on in all of her four children, Connie, Jack (Teresa), James (Becky), and Michelle (Michael); along with her twelve grandchildren; and thirty great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Marjorie and Jean; her son-in-law, Greig; and her beloved husband, Jack. Until we meet again, Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, Aunt, and Friend.
