M. Ellen (Monts) Soultz, 83, of Jonesboro, Indiana, went to be with her Lord Saturday September 15, 2018 at Marion General Hospital, Marion, Indiana. Ellen was born on October 8, 1934 in Parke County, Indiana, daughter of the late Alex and Mary (Roach) Monts. She married Charles A. Chuck Soultzon June 2, 1951, he preceded her in death on April 3, 2017.
After having 6 children and expecting her seventh child, Ellen when back to night school and graduated from Mississinewa High School in 1969. Ellen was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved raising her family and taking care of her grandchildren, and enjoyed reading. She was a long time member of Main Street Wesleyan Church, Jonesboro, IN.
Ellen is survived by her children:Mary (Donald) Gilbert, Jonesboro, IN,Pamala (Dwight Ike) Jones, Pendleton, IN, Terry J. Jones, Jonesboro, IN, Darrell Butch (Arlene) Soultz, Swayzee,IN, Nanette Shaffer (Deceased),Lee (Rhonda) Soultz, Upland, IN, and Alexander P. Al (Ginny) Soultz, Jonesboro, IN; and Son-in-law, Kenneth Shaffer, Atlanta, IN; brothers and sisters in-laws:Wilma Jean Soultz, Fairmount, IN, Janet Eckert, South Bend, IN, Marjorie Randolph, Jonesboro, IN, Beverly (Loy) Bittle, Heber Springs, AR, Dale (Lesta) Soultz, Jonesboro, IN, Marilyn Miller, Windfall, IN, Becky Soultz, Jonesboro, IN, Phyllis Hosier, Jonesboro, IN and Ron (Cathy) Soultz, Jonesboro, IN. Ellen is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 3 honorary great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. All loved her and will miss her greatly.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ellen was preceded in death by her daughter, Nanette Shaffer and grandson J.D. Gilbert. Ellen was the last surviving of her seven siblings, Roy(Gert) Monts, Walter(Phyllis) Monts, PatMonts, Martha(Chuck) Schwark, John(Maxine) Monts, Rex Monts and Robert Monts. Also, she is preceded in death by several brothers and sisters in law. Francis (Bob) Maynard, J Soultz, Lois (Roland) Bogear, Bob Eckart, Bob Randolph, Ed Miller, Ray Soultz, and David Hosier.
