M. Carolyn Reid, a long-time resident of the Denver area, died on December 19th of an acute, short-term illness. She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family and friends.
Born in 1941 in Dayton, OH, Carolyn’s family relocated to Albuquerque, NM, where Carolyn graduated high school in 1959. After entering the University of Denver, she married Erle Reid in 1961. The couple emigrated to Australia in 1962 and returned to the US to start a family in 1964. They were divorced in 1986.
Carolyn received a Bachelor of Science in Counseling from the University of Colorado, Denver in 1989. Continuing there as a graduate student, Carolyn received a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology in 1991, and was later credentialed as a level three Certified Addictions Counselor. She married David Yetter in June 1991.
Carolyn worked as a licensed professional addictions counselor in a behavioral hospital in Denver before her retirement in 2003. She also received training to be a certified yoga instructor. In earlier years, Carolyn worked as a nutritionist and owned a catering company, as well as a giant cookie company, while raising her children in Grand Junction, Colorado.
After retiring, Carolyn enjoyed traveling with her husband, hiking with friends, and volunteered to teach yoga every week to friends. She cherished time with her grandchildren, and actively participated in their lives.
