Lynn Westly Sommer, a resident of Lycoming County, was a graduate of Valley Forge Christian College, and in youthful years served in various lay positions in the Assemblies of God denomination as a rural supply Pastor, Sunday school teacher and board member.
Having background study also with several technical institutes, he later worked as an electronic technician with the Sylvania and Philco companies until increasing illness forced his untimely retirement. Until such time, as part of his leisure, he enjoyed travel, both domestically and abroad. The antiquities of the Middle East were of particular and lasting interest to him. He also retained a keen interest in one of his favorite subjects, amateur astronomy.
