Born in Nacogdoches Texas on November 18,1948, to Charles and OD, Lynda Joyce Johnson was the third of four siblings. From the very beginning she was recognized as a brilliant and intelligent person. This was evident when she attended Emmott Scott High School in Tyler ,Texas where she received very high grades. Her stellar academic performance paved the way for her to attend Prairie View A&M University. This is where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in business and became a member of Who’s Who Among American Colleges and Universities.
Earning all A’s and Bs and being a natural leader among her peers allowed her to become a founding member of the Prairie View A & M University undergraduate Zeta Gamma chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated in the Fall of 1970.
It was during this time she married Reginald Garrett, Sr. of Longview, Texas. They bore two sons Reginald II and Kevin Gene.
After years of a fruitful career working at Prairie View A&M University, she met and was re-married to Michael T. McDonald, Sr. of Hempstead Texas. From their union, they bore a son, Michael, III.
In her later years, Lynda retired and enjoyed being with her family and spoiling her grandchildren. She went home to be with the Lord on March 14, 2020.
