Mr. Lyman Melbourne “Mel” Penn, age 95, of Valley, AL passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at the EAMC Lanier Nursing Home in Valley. He was born on July 1, 1920 in Oxford, GA.
Mr. Penn is survived by his two sons, Ronnie M. (Gloria) Penn of Valley, AL and Steven Randall “Randy” (Hector Arias) Penn of Houston, TX; two grandchildren, Karen Penn (Mark) Brown and Brian Ronald (Lachaka) Penn, both of Valley; five great grandchildren, T.J. Williams, Hunter Kendrick, Omari Penn, Garrison Brown, and Nariah Penn. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Cox Penn; great grandson, Penn Ford Brown; and several brothers and sisters.
Mr. Penn was a member of the Lanett First Christian Church. He was a World War II Naval veteran, where he served on a destroyer. He was a former employee of West Point Pepperell with over 30 years of service to the company.
