Lyle Lavern Donnell, Sr., 80, of Redby, Minnesota passed away on Tuesday, May 5th, 2020 at the Red Lake Hospital in Red Lake, MN.
Mr. Donnell was born on January 6, 1940 in Red Lake, MN to Louis and Jane (Lussier) Donnell. He graduated from Red Lake High School in 1958 and served in the United States Navy from 1958-1962. Lyle married Darlene Sayers on November 29, 1958. He worked for the Indian Health Service, the Red Lake Builders and Red Lake Housing before starting his own business “Donnell Plumbing” in the late 90’s with his late son, David Donnell, Sr. Lyle was an avid hunter, trapper and fisherman. He shared his wealth of knowledge with his sons, enjoyed many trips to the woods and on the lake. He would also find time to share gardening and recipes with his daughter. Lyle also enjoyed playing baseball and softball and his sons and grandsons would follow in his footsteps. Lyle was a hard-working man, and a man of his word who loved equally and unconditionally and he will be greatly missed by many.
Family that Lyle is reunited with are his two sons, Lyle Jr. “Choo” and David Sr.; four grandchildren, his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
Lyle is survived by his wife of 61 years, Darlene Donnell of Redby; children, Charles Donnell of Redby; Jeffrey (Jolyn) Donnell of Cass Lake; Bobby Donnell of Redby and Vicki Donnell of Redby; 36 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, four brothers, Herman, Henry, Orlyn and Harold and his sister Peggy.
