Lyle H. Stryker died Wednesday morning, April 3, 2013 at Borgess Medical Center following a brief illness. Lyle was born in Kalamazoo on March 25, 1917 to Harold V. and Nora Haynes Stryker. His life was filled with love of family and friends. He is survived by his children: Nancy Stryker, Eileen Robert Endias Stryker, and Martin Ann Stryker; his grandchildren: Aaron Anna Stryker, Elaine Stryker, Sean Stryker, Rosemary Damian Rivera Stryker Linares and great grandchild, Damian Rivera.
Lyle grew up on the family farm near Fulton, Michigan, went to Athens High School and Western Michigan University. He taught country school for five years before entering the US Army, where he helped establish a hospital in New Caledonia. He returned in 1945 and married his love, Margaret Pease, started his family, and worked at KTS industries, retiring in 1982.
He was a Northwood School Board member, served on the Board of Directors of the Stryker Corporation, long-time active member of the Parchment United Methodist Church, supporter of Parchment Public Schools. He was smart, funny, humble and kind; a steadfast son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend and neighbor. He valued family, friends, and education. He loved classical music, good food, a comfortable chair and great conversation. He was preceded in death by a son, Stephen, and his beloved wife of 63 years, Margaret.
