Lyle Dean Ruley, 88, of Lafayette, passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at IU Health Arnett Hospital.
He was born November 8, 1933, in Lowell, to the late Lyle B. and Vergie E. (Doty) Ruley.
Dean graduated from Lowell High School and went on to serve in the US Army before being honorable discharged.
On September 4, 1983, he married Patricia D. (Horton) Conner and she survives.
Dean retired from the Indiana State Police after 27 years and went on to work in the Federal Court system and also served as a Justice Prisoner and Alien Transportation System officer.
Dean enjoyed woodworking, and painting landscapes.
Surviving with his wife, Pat D. Ruley of Lafayette, are a son, Terry (Sherri) Ruley of Lafayette, three stepsons, Rodney (Melody) Conner of Spring, TX, Richard (Deidra) Conner of Katy, TX, and Brian (Ann) Conner of Stewart, FL. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Dane Ruley, Patrick, Kierra, Madalyn, Samantha, Jonathan, Ryan, Sean and McKenzie Conner.
Dean was preceded in death by a daughter Deanna Ruley, a brother, Donald Ruley, and a sister, Mildred Wolf.
