Maria de la Luz Rebeca Gomez, 69, of Oxnard died after a brief illness on April 22, 2012. She was born January 29, 1943, in Chihuahua, Mexico, and had been a 44 year Ventura County resident coming from Los Angeles. She married the love of her life, Ramiro Gomez, in 1962 in Los Angeles. She was a homemaker for over 50 years devoting her life to the proper raising of her children. Maria was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Oxnard, and was also a catacist, teaching the faith; a PTA mother. She enjoyed gardening, fabric painting, needlepoint and watching the Food Network.
She is survived by her children, Maria Elena Borunda (husband, Roberto); Ramiro Gomez (Spouse, Nellie); Maria de La Luz Mejia (spouse, Gabriel); Jose Cruz Gomez and Teresa Gomez; grandchildren, Rosa Helena, Roberto Ramiro, Andriana, Andrea Elizabeth, Gabriel Jr., Richard, Jaime Raul, Ramiro Jr., Jasmin Larrilynne, and Blaz Diaz; and her siblings, Celia Flores, Peter Arandia, Sylvia Ramirez, Guillermo Arandia, Angelina Arandia and Elizabeth Seañez.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ramiro; her parents, Jose and Luz Arandia; her two infant sons and her brother, Jose Arandia Jr. who she loved very much.
Recitation of the rosary is planned for Sunday, April 29, at 7:00 p.m.
