Lundy Lee Hilpipre was born to Elsie Hilpipre on September 12, 1936, in Williams, Iowa. He was educated in the rural schools of Hamilton and Wright Counties.
Lundy was employed at the power plant and the municipal airport in Webster City.
Lundy was united in marriage with Shirley Roe Jessen on May 13, 1972, in Elk Point, SD. Shirley had two sons, Robert and Bradley and a daughter, Barb. The couple made their home in Webster City for a couple of years and then moved to Eagle Grove in 1974. They had a daughter, Kristi.
After several years of truck driving, Lundy went to work in heating and air conditioning. He did this for 34 years, 26 of those years with Oldson’s Plumbing & Heating of Eagle Grove, retiring in 1998.
Lundy enjoyed cribbage, horseshoes, pool, wood working, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and camping.
Lundy passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022, at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Belmond, at the age of 85 years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie and stepfather, George Story; wife, Shirley; sons, Robert K. Jessen, Jr. and Bradley K. Jessen and daughter-in-law, Kay Jessen.
Survivors include daughters, Liz Hilpipre (Julie Reid) of Flint, MI, Sherri Patterson (Tommy) of Comanche, TX, Barb Boyd (Wayne) of Goldfield and Kristi Hilpipre (Mike Mallinger) of Eagle Grove; daughter-in-law, Diane Jessen of Eagle Grove; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and caring friends.
