Lundy Eugene Harvey, 90, beloved father and grandfather, went to be with his Lord on December 10, 2010 after a brief illness. He was born July 18, 1920 in Hancock County, Indiana, and resided in Anderson for 25 years.
He served his country in the US Navy on the USS New Orleans during WWII. Machinest Mate 2nd Class Harvey received the American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with one silver and one bronze star, Navy Occupation SVC Medal with Asia Clasp, WWII Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two bronze stars, Philippine Presidential Unit Citation, and China Service Medal.
He retired in 1985 from Delco Remy Division of General Motors as a Tool & Die Maker. Lundy was a member of Madison Park Church of God. He was the site manager and very instrumental in the construction of North Anderson Church of God on Scatterfield Road. He is survived by his children, Ronnie Luisa Harvey of St. Petersburg, Florida, Vivian Atkins of Anderson, Glen Howard Jan of Pendleton and Regina Jackson Dwaine of Pendleton; sister, June Habegger Glen of Anderson; 12 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He was preceded by his wife of 53 years, Irene Matlock Harvey on November 24, 2010; parents, John Thomas & Maude Mae Burris Harvey; daughter, Judy McCardle; siblings, Esther Hogan, Ruth Harmon, Lois Jean McHatton, Wesley Harvey and Marilyn Scott; son-in-law, Dale Adkins and great grandchild, Brittany Boothe.
