Lula Mae Berry Brown, a resident of the Good Hope community, answered the Master’s the call on the morning of May 10, 2022 at her home. Lula was born to the late Ida Rivers Berry and Willie “Freddie” Berry on Feb. 2, 1937 in Walker Springs. She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age and united with the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, where she served as church secretary, matron, usher and on several committees.
Lula retired from the Clarke County Board of Education after more than years. Upon retirement, her days were filled with spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her loving husband, Strawder Brown Sr.; son, Jerome O’Neal Brown; and siblings, Sadie Mae Thomas, Anderson “Sam” Berry, Jeremiah Berry, Frank Berry and Johnny Berry.
Left to cherish her memories are her six children, LaQuetta (Anthony) Harper, Amanda (Johnny) Poellnitz, Carolyn Brown, Strawder Brown Jr., James Michael Robinson and Gladys (Hiram) Figures; 11 grandchildren, Ajia Harper, Autumn Harper, Kyle Poellnitz, Kirk Poellnitz, Sorderria Brown, James Tyrone Robinson, Diondra Robinson, Tamika Davis, Christopher (Ericka) Davis, Quintin Brown and Karon Brown; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Luceretia Berry Washington and Lillie (Paul) Coates; one devoted brother, Earl Lee Berry Sr.; with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends.
