Luis Alberto Rodriguez, 16, was born on July 19, 2003, the son of Luisa Flores and David Rodriguez. Luis went to be with the Lord on August 24, 2019. He is survived by his parents, Luisa and David; his step-father Dave Ramirez; his brothers David and Adrian and his little sister Nayeli; his grandparents Laura Flores, Manuel (Nancy) Flores, and Emma and Jaime Rodriguez; his aunts and uncles Yvonne (Paul) Flores, Jaime, Nancy (Jeremy) Sanchez, and Erica (Ernie) Rodriguez-Romero; countless cousins and friends.

Luis attended Denver Montessori Jr/Sr High School and had just started his junior year of high school. On May 15, 2018, Luis received the Mile High Scholar Award in which he was one of only 2 students recognized at his school for this prestigious award. The award acknowledges students for modeling leadership skills, respecting the school environment, and supporting his/her peers. Luis was the “go-to” kid at school who his peers went to for help and support. Luis was a self-taught artist. He taught himself how to draw and play the piano. Luis played ultimate Frisbee on a team at school and built a strong camaraderie with his teammates over the years. Luis built close and genuine relationships with his peers, and he will be greatly missed by his teachers, classmates, and school community.

While Luis wasn’t a trained gymnast, you could always catch him practicing his double back flip. Luis played football, baseball, and basketball while he was younger and was looking forward to getting back into a sport this school year.

Luis was a special young man. He always had everyone else’s feelings at his forefront. He always wanted to make sure everyone was okay and that everyone felt like they belonged. Luis just wanted everyone to be happy and to get along. He was a peace-maker with a big heart, and he had a smile that would light up the room and could warm up any heart. Our son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend will be greatly missed by all those who knew him and loved him.
