Lugarda Clark, 89, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on February 9, 2023. She was born in Socorro, NM to Pete V. and Julianita (Herrera) Romero on September 6, 1933.
Lugarda spent most of her time working in many schools around New Mexico and El Paso as a librarian, secretary, and educational assistant. She moved to many parts of the state with her husband, Tommy Clark, a basketball coach. Everywhere she moved, she found great friends and stayed in touch with them often. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved hard. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports, traveled for graduations and weddings, and spent quality time with each of them.
Lugarda met and fell in love with Max G. Cline; the two were married in 1957 and had three sons – Max, Mark, and Kenneth. In 1965, Max was diagnosed with cancer and abruptly lost his battle, leaving Lugarda and her three sons. After many years, Lugarda met Tommy Clark and the two were married in 1977.
She is preceded in death by her father, Pete V. Romero; her mother, Julianita H. Romero; brothers, Daniel H. Romero and Robert Romero; sisters, Ernestine Esquivel and Jennie Aragon; her husband Max G. Cline who passed away on November 16, 1965 and Tommy Clark, who passed away on April 6, 1995.
Lugarda is survived by her three loving sons, Max George Cline and wife, Berizana of Socorro, NM, Mark Cline of Albuquerque, NM, Kenneth Cline and wife, Heather of Edmond, OK; sister Dolores Yonker and husband, Mike of Gilbert, AZ; brothers, Raymond Romero and wife, Anita of Los Lunas, NM, Eugene Romero and wife, Rowena of Socorro, NM; sister-in-law, Loretta Romero of Socorro, NM; grandchildren, Cory Cline, Kayla Cline, Kyle Cline, Katelyn Montgomery and husband, Luke, Kristen Griego and husband, Miguel, Jonathon Cline and wife, Brianna; great-grandchildren Jaxon and Hudson Montgomery; she also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The Rosary will be recited on March 3, 2023 at 10:00 am.
