Sister Luette P. Vernon was born to the late Straughter Pickett and Louisiana Long Pickett on January 20, 1927. She departed this life on November 24, 2016.

She was married to the late Elder Bennie L. Vernon in 1949. She confessed hope in Christ August 1956 and joined the Living Water C. P. Church under the leadership of Rev. Henry Pendleton. The church later combined with the New Heaven C. P. Church in Belle Mina, AL, where she served faithfully until her health failed her. She served on the Usher Board and the Kitchen Committee for many years.

She worked for many families in Mooresville, AL and Huntsville Airport for Delta Airlines. She was the last of the Picketts’ siblings.

She will be most profoundly missed by her only daughter-Mrs. Bertha Nalls (James); two granddaughters, Valerie Ware of Madison, AL and Dr. LaShanda Nalls (Devon) of Chicago, IL; great grandsons, Antonio Cheatom (Taneshia) of Huntsville, AL, Jaylin Ware of Madison, AL, Amari Edwards, Cadyn Edwards; one granddaughter, Little Miss Savvi Nell Edwards of Chicago, IL; three half-sisters, Jewel Smith of Dayton, OH, Emma Timmons of Madison, AL and Ida Miland of Belle Mina, AL; several sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Special thanks to Ruth Pickett, Denise Stovall, Rabin Stovall, Lizzie Lamb and George Erskine for being there to help me out on many occasions. Thanks to all the sitters and caretakers for their services.
