Funeral Services for Mrs.

Mrs. Lue Ida Jones was born on February 4, 1920 to Johnny and Willie Ann Vaughn Turner in Lawrence County, Alabama. She passed into eternal rest on September 30, 2011 at River City Nursing Home in Decatur, Alabama. She was married to Samuel Jones Sr., and to this union, they were blessed with one son, Samuel Jones Jr.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and one sister, Willie Mae Yarbrough.

“Big Mama,” as she was affectionately called, was a homemaker who will be missed by all that knew her. She will be greatly missed for her signature cooking and her outgoing personality. Big Momma met no strangers. Big Momma took pride in her gardening skills and household cleanliness. She was the matriarch that held the Jones family together.

Mrs. Jones was a member of Mallard Creek Church where she served in numerous capacities. Her greatest accomplishment was that of being the oldest member and mother of her church.
