Ludger Deryce was born on July 05, 1951, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to the parentage of the late Pierre & Elta Deryce. At an early age, Ludger showed great promise with his intellect and eidetic memory, and intellectual capabilities. He always had a strong penchant for the arts and literature with a strong desire to understand and analyze the history of the First Black Republic in the world: Haiti.

Ludger Deryce completed his high school year in Cap Haitien at the College Notre Dame. In 1974, Ludger received a certificate of proficiency from the school of commerce-Julien Craan for his 2 years of studies of American Accounting: The Twentieth Century Bookkeeping & Accounting program. He followed it by enrolling himself the following year in the “Institut National D’Administration de Gestion et De Hautes Etudes Internationals” for his BA in Business Administration. Ludger brilliantly mastered most of his college subjects: Mathematics, Statistics, Economy, Accounting, and Civil Rights at Haute Etude Internationals. With his thirst for knowledge unbound, and without borders, he quickly enrolled in participated in a semester abroad program at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia. While in Colombia, Ludger continued sharpening his skills in business administration, all the while falling in love with community service and social activism. Upon his return to Haiti, Ludger continued his academic journey by enrolling in the GOC “Institute of Polytechnique for his Architecture degree. At GOC, Ludger continued performing at a very high level during his four years in the architectural program. As was the case during his previous academic endeavors, Ludger continued performing at a very high level on all subjects during the 8 semesters he spent at GOC. Ludger could be seen as an overachiever. However, most that knew him talked about a great mind and how he was the epitome of brilliance.

Ludger Deryce married Marie Yves Casseus on October 25, 1984. They birthed their first child Emmanuelle Deryce a year later, on December 21, 1985, and followed with their second child Ludger Deryce Jr two years later, on December 04, 1987. Ludger Deryce advocated academic excellence to his children; he also relentlessly talked about being the master of your faith and your best cheerleader when it comes to achieving your dreams whether those dreams were common or unusual. Many family members can attest to him encouraging them to pursue higher learning, introducing them to literature, and engaging them in challenging discussions on philosophy, politics, music, art, as well as human and civil rights. He collected and read books that would quench his constant thirst for knowledge and encouraged those around him to do the same. Ludger was always ahead of the curve, suggesting to his children that one day China would be a major superpower and that they should learn mandarin (his daughter did in college) or that Facebook was going to be a sought-after stock one day back in 2012 (He was Right !!!).

Ludger was a man of strong belief and, during his adult life, wrote about his dreams for his children, his family, and his country. He had a great aspiration for Haiti, and he imagined a better country for his offspring. He remained steadfast in his convictions and held strong and unwavering opinions on the political landscape of Haiti and the world until the end.  Thus, he poured his thoughts and convictions into his writings and navigated some of his most inner emotions through his poems. We hope that one day, his wishes for an educated and prosperous nation will become a reality.

Ludger will be cherished in memory by his wife Marie Yves Casseus Deryce, daughter Emmanuelle Deryce Carre ( Jeffrey Carre) and son Ludger Deryce Jr (Reneve Rose Jeanty Deryce), his grandchildren Ariane Carre & Aida Carre, his mother in law Immacula Pierre Canel, his brothers Jean Erick Deryce (Carline Deryce), Edner Deryce, Garry Deryce (Monette Deryce), and his sisters Daly Deryce (Norman Chazin), Judith  Nazaire ( Jean Claude Nazaire), Gardy Laguerre his cousins: Gerty Tertullien, Jean-Eddy Tertullien, Robert Louis Jacques, Nadege Saint-Victor, Gregory Saint Victor, Lynne Aubourg, nieces, nephews and god Children: Erick Deryce,[DE2]  Pierre Reginald Deryce, Thierry Boulin, Edgir Deryce, Vladimir Deryce, Lisa Deryce,  Dimitri Deryce, Stanley Abellard, Tamara Abellard, Jimmy Francois, Christopher Bros, Arno Morales, Kevin Thomas, Nisky Nazaire, Ricardo Nazaire, Jonathan Nazaire, and a host of family & friends.
