Sunday morning, September 20, 2020, Lucy Cass Robinson was called home to rest. She left her weary body behind and went on over to the other side. Lucy, affectionately known as Cookie Cass, the second daughter of Lee and Flossie Cass (who both predeceased her) was born September 28, 1948 in Miller County, Georgia. She was a sickly baby but grew up to be a strong, healthy, precocious child. Cookie was given the nickname by her mother because she liked cookies so much when she was a little girl.
Cookie was a natural leader and a force to be reckoned with. Even at an early age she was known for her ‘colorful’ language. She was full of life and always the center of attention. Cookie was fun to be around. She knew how to tell a good story and was a real charmer.
Lucy found God at an early age. She grew up in Mt.
Lucy attended the segregated Dunbar Elementary, Junior and Senior High Schools. She was a proud member of the Class of 1966. Cookie loved attending Dunbar and was active in many organizations throughout her school tenure. After high school, she went to St. Louis, Missouri where she studied business administration and office management. Lucy was Office Manager for Charles Weaver and William Pierce’s Bail Bonds businesses for several decades. Her final employment was as secretary for St.
Lucy was previously married to Robert (Deco) Johnson of St. Petersburg, Florida. Robert died in 1997. In 2011, she married Charley (Rabbit Jack) Robinson, Jr. Charley was a dutiful husband who took care of her throughout her illnesses.
Lucy leaves to mourn her husband, Charley; sisters, Selphenia Hudson Shields (Sam), Tampa, FL., Janice Cass, Fort Myers, FL; brother, Leon Roberson (Pat) Rochester, NY; nieces, Me’Shay Hudson Holiday and Lydia Hudson both of Tampa,FL; nephews, John Barber, Jr., Easton, PA., Blanchard Barber, Scranton, Pa; step-daughters, Kerrie Robinson, Aisha Hammonds and Sumintra Roberts and step-son, Jarvis Robinson all of Fort Myers, FL, three sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, three uncles, four aunts, a hosts of cousins and many special friends.
Cookie suffered through much pain and discomfort until her body could take no more. She fought the good fight and answered the Father’s call. She finished her life’s course and kept the faith. She has gone on to a place where she won’t suffer any more pain or sorrow. Cookie will be greatly missed by all those who loved her.
