On June 23, 1951, Lucinda married Moses Nathaniel Kennedy and enjoyed many years of happiness. From this union they had a daughter, Jane Ann Kennedy. Throughout the years, they traveled and entertained.
Lucinda worked for the Raytheon Corporation and then moved on to Polaroid where she remained for many years as a Financial Specialist in the finance department. She was blessed to retire from Polaroid early, at the age of 55. She then attended the Lee Academy and earned her real estate license. Lucinda was also a certified home health care worker. She enjoyed working with and helping people. Lucinda loved being retired. Laughingly, she would joke that if the people were not nice, she could just quit. The Foster Grandparent program was another interest she enjoyed, as she loved children. Last, but not least, Lucinda used to man the front desk at St Paul AME Christian Life Center of Cambridge, MA. She had a chance to meet many people and children. This was her last job and she loved it.
Lucinda loved life and lived it to the fullest. She had a beautiful smile that lit up a room and she epitomized the meaning of grace and dignity. She was a joyful presence with her colorful clothes and creative fashion choices. Lucinda had a shoe collection rivaled only by Imelda Marcos’s.
Lucinda had a special crew of ladies and they enjoyed going to dinner, plays, and museums. She loved her friends and family and filled her home with warmth and kindness.
Lucinda Kennedy-Tate was preceded in death by her father Timothy Braithwaite, mother Adelaide Braithwaite, husbands Moses Nathaniel Kennedy and Robert Clarence Tate, and brothers Hilton, Cecil, and Elberton Braithwaite. She is survived by her daughter Jane Kennedy, and grandsons Maxwell Nathaniel Kennedy-Reid and Austin Kennedy Reid, as well as a host of loving nieces and nephews, family, and friends.
