Lucinda Camille McLendon was born August 4, 1954 In Chicago, Illinois. She was the sixth child of Leonard and Louise McLendon. Both of her parents preceded her in death. Lucinda graduated from Jones Commercial High School and enjoyed a seven year administrative career with the United States Government. In her final years, her spiritual fellowship was with the San Diego Mosque #8, where she was loved, respected and admired.

Lucinda, affectionately known as “Cindy”, loved life and was an inspiration to herself, her family, friends and just about anyone she encountered. Lucinda loved to engage in conversations that involved enjoying life to its fullest. She desired that everyone realize that life should not be taken for granted rather each day should be lived to its fullest. She believed and lived: “Purpose will make death wait, Pray, don’t worry and keep it moving”.

Lucinda was a very humble person with a beautiful smile and sense of humor that would easily draw you to her for a burst of sunshine. Even as a child, she was very competitive and loved victory. Fueled with faith in Allah, she exceeded all medical expectations and for at least eight years, she beat death. In the end she heard His voice say: “Well done, it’s time to come home” and she let go.

Lucinda leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Arnibah Vanst; three brothers, Van, Lawrence and Lance; four sisters, Karen, Lynne, Lynette and Louise; numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, friends and Brothers and Sisters in the Faith.
