 Lucille Ardis Schmidt, the daughter of Nathan and Esther (Kropf) Banwart, was born December 4, 1927 in West Bend, where she was raised and received her education. She was baptized in the Apostolic Christian Church October 1, 1944 in West Bend, IA. Before her marriage, Lucille worked for the telephone company and the Iowa State Bank. She was united in marriage with Dwaine Schmidt on September 6, 1959, in the Apostolic Christian Church. The couple lived and operated a dairy farm in Ottosen, IA from 1959 to 1972. The family then moved to Humboldt where Lucille and Dwaine owned and operated the Dairy Queen for 20 years. After their retirement, the couple moved to West Bend. Lucille died Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at the West Bend Care Center having reached the age of 87.

Survivors include her children: Lynn (David) Petersen of Humboldt, IA, Dennis (Annette) Schmidt of Eagan, MN, Gayle (Alex) Schimmel of Kansas City, KS, and Neal (Angela) Schmidt of West Bend, IA; grandchildren: Dylan McAfee, Cody Schmidt, Paxton Petersen, Creighton McAfee, Portlind Schmidt, April Schmidt, Lane Schmidt and Bailey Schmidt; sister Joyce Banwart of West Bend and brother Joel (Sonia) Banwart of Eureka, IL, brothers-in-law, Kenny Schmidgal of Phoenix AZ, Jack (Barb) Schmidt of West Bend and Roland Schmidt of Gibbon MN; sisters- in-law, Lois Banwart of Idaho, Verna Bruns of Gibbon, MN and Sheila (Kevin) Shaw of Algona, IA. Lucille was a devoted Christian, mother and wife and was a great example to her children. She was preceded in death by her husband Dwaine, her parents and siblings, Glenn, Florence, Gladys, Floyd, Doris, Mary Jo, Mabel and Lydia Jean.
