Lucille (nee Lubragge) Lavner age 89, of Brookhaven, PA passed away on March 24, 2022. Lucille was born and raised in West Philly to her parents Anthony and Jennie (nee Leggieri) Lubragge. She and her three siblings, Anna, Michael, and Anthony, overcame a difficult childhood to emerge as good and successful citizens and parents in and around Philadelphia.Lucille – smart, talented, unpretentious, hard-working, and a life-long beauty, employed these and other qualities to excel in her various roles in life. She and her husband Sid owned and operated taprooms in West Philly, North Philly, and the Northeast. Lucille was liked and admired by the bar patrons who would often get her to use her beautiful voice to sing for them. At this time, in typically determined fashion, Lucille spearheaded the successful fight with Philadelphia City Hall to pass an ordinance that eliminated the city prohibition of women who were not proprietors to tend bar. It is noteworthy here to mention that Lucille was the first woman inducted into the Delaware County Optimists her second career, Lucille rose quickly at Girard/Mellon bank from teller to manager, where she earned a reputation for efficiency and high branch performance. Her success in this regard led to her becoming a trouble-shooter who was assigned to under-performing branches to turn them retirement, Lucille was integrally involved with her family, volunteered at Crozier Chester Senior Center, and advocated for marginalized people in her life.Throughout the demanding careers, and before and after, Lucille raised four children. She was an extraordinarily protective mother, devoted to our safety, good character, and education. She was a giant figure in our lives – always ready with advice, instruction, and any help we may have needed. She loved us and we loved her intensely.Lucille will be remembered as a good daughter, wife, mother, and friend. She was excellent company: attentive, on-point, funny, and will love and be grateful for our mother forever.Lucille is predeceased by her husband Sidney S. and her son Thomas is survived by her children Daniel A., Samuel M., and Joanne Lavner; her 2 grandchildren Christopher D. Thompson (Heather) andJannine J. McLean (Thomas); her 5 great grandchildren Wyatt, Rylan, Oliver, Lincoln, and Brady; and her brother Anthony Lubragge, Jr.
