Lucille M. Wilhoit, age 93, of Morehead, passed away Monday, July 2, 2018, at the home of her sister, where she resided the last several years.

Born January 12, 1925, at Cogswell in Rowan County, she was a daughter of the late William Baldwin McKenzie and Jessie Mae Alfrey McKenzie. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Aileen Moorefield and Gladys “Dottie” Walker, and three brothers, Robert McKenzie, William Andrew “Jack” McKenzie, and Haskell Burl “Dick” McKenzie. Lucille’s husband of almost 36 years, James Terrell Wilhoit, preceded her in death on July 23, 2012, and her son, F. M. Hall, on November 18, 2016.

She is survived by two granddaughters, Meagan Hall of Nashville, Tennessee, and Chelsea Hall of Asheville, North Carolina. Lucille is also survived by her sister, Betty Busby of Morehead, and her brother, James “Bobo” McKenzie of Louisville, as well as nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Lucille was a talented quilter and seamstress and made countless beautiful quilts which she gave to family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening and cooking and loved music, particularly old hymns. Two of her favorite hymns were “The Old Rugged Cross” and “How Great Thou Art.” Above all else, she loved to be surrounded by her family. Lucille touched many with her kind and gentle nature. She was a devoted Christian and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
