Lucille J. Collins Brokaw was born in Roosevelt, Douglas County, Missouri on November 24, 1929, to George Bryan Collins and Eva M. Moore. Lucille’s mother passed away in 1937. The family of Lucille, her brother Raymond, and her father, lived with her grandparents for the next few years. Her childhood years were spent with her grandmother.
Around 1950 the family moved to Wilder, Idaho with another family from Missouri, looking for work. It was hard times in Missouri. They worked for a short time in the hop fields. Lucille worked for the J. R. Simplot Co. in Caldwell, ID. Later she was employed by First Security Bank (now Wells Fargo) in the corporate office as an executive secretary to the then president. She retired from the bank in the 1990’s. She also worked part time at Consumer’s Grocery after hours at the bank.
On July 5, 1973, Lucille married Orville Brokaw and they purchased 40 acres south of Boise in Kuna. They built a new home and farmed while they continued to work in town. After retirement, they sold the property and moved to Wilder, ID to another farm. The last move was to the Timber Stone Golf Course where a new home was built in 2012. During all these years Lucille continued to take care of her father and brother as they both had health problems. Lucille was a busy person; she liked her garden, the outdoors, and liked to use the telephone to keep in touch with friends. Lucille loved dogs and had a special place in her heart for not only her own dogs, but for all others. She had a small dog babysitting business that she enjoyed. She will be missed by many dear close family and friends.
Lucille is preceded in death by her mother Eva Collins and father George Bryan Collins, and brother Raymond Collins.
