Lucille I. Butler, 94 of Wilder, died peacefully with family members at her side on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at a Caldwell assisted living facility.

Lucille was born November 4, 1916 in Phillipsburg, Kansas to Deloss and Maude Pollard. At the tender age of 5, Lucille met her future husband, Orville, who lived on a neighboring farm. Mom remarked one time she found herself walking to school behind Orville who was holding hands with another girl. She said she secretly wished that girl could be her. As fate would have it, Orville helped the Pollard family move to Idaho. On November 4, 1937, Lucille and Orville were married in Caldwell and returned to Wilder where they made their first home in the sheepherder’s wagon top that covered the truck on their trip from Kansas. Lucille and Orville worked in the fields and packing sheds until they were able to buy a farm of their own. After 56 years of marriage, Orville passed away in 1993.

Lucille later remarried, sharing four good years with an old family friend, Ab Applegate of Wilder. These years were a blessing to the both of them.

Lucille is survived by her children, Mike (Rebekah) Butler of Garden Valley, Bonnie (Danny) Cagle of Caldwell, Fred (Carol) Butler of Wilder and daughter-in-law, Loyce (Don) Bingaman of Caldwell; brother, Eldon Pollard of Nampa and sister, Betty (Leo) Sommers of Smith, NV; 19 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 10 great great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and close family friend, Marilyn McKinnie.

She was preceded in death by Orville Butler and Ab Applegate; son, Larry Butler; brother, Ernest (Hazel) Pollard; sisters, Leota (Easy) Pirrong and Luetta (Bill) Kennedy; grandchildren, Brian Butler and Shannon Alley; and great-grandson, Davey Butler.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Autumn Wind and Family Home Health and Hospice for taking Mom into their care.
