Lucille A. Pierce 95 of Rupert, Idaho went home to her savior, August 29, 2017.
Lucille was born in Houston, Texas to Lucille D. and Claud C. Whitehurst of Kentucky on September 20, 1921.
On July 20, 1941 she married Clifton P. Smith of Lubbock, Texas; sergeant and pilot in the U.S. Air Force. During the war she worked in an air craft factory assembling fighter planes, while Cliff served in the war. Later she was a nurse in the many Air Bases they were transferred to, including France and Germany.
They had three beautiful children; Gordon (Nina) C. Smith of Modesto, California; Linda (Don) J. Kester of Rupert, Idaho and Michael Smith of California who died at the young age of 15 in 1966 in a motorcycle /auto accident.
Cliff and Lucille divorced in 1959 and she remarried in 1968 to Paul Pierce of Los Angeles, California.
Paul and Lucille operated the Wayside Café and Trailer Park in Heyburn, Idaho from 1971 to 1985, making many wonderful friends in the community. Lucille has been a member of the First Christian Praise Chapel since 1994.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda, granddaughter Tracy, Grandsons Paul , Jake, and Cody and several great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brother ConLee of Texas; sister Claudia of California, Sons Michael and Gordon of California.
Mom was a strong, quiet, sweet spirit that loved helping and always trusted God no matter what life brought. Her faith carried her thru a long life of good times as well as the difficult ones.
Those who knew her will remember her vibrant smile, twinkling eyes and her love for all. We know that she is watching and cheering us on from the glory of heaven until we can all be united again forever.
