Lucille A. Lovekamp, 102, of Jacksonville, IL died Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at St. John’s Hospice in Springfield, IL.

She was born March 25, 1913 in Morgan County, the daughter of John H. Sr. and Minnie Hemminghaus Werries. She married Orville Lovekamp on March 25, 1937 and he preceded her in death in 1961.

She is survived by two children, Rosemary Vortman (husband, Gary) of Jacksonville and Phillip Lovekamp (wife, Elizabeth) of rural Petersburg; four grandchildren, Jeremy Lovekamp (Amy) of Athens, Carrie Lovekamp of Springfield, Kelcy Short (Chris) of Jacksonville, and Kolina Vortman of Richmond, VA; five great grandchildren, Levi and Lily Lovekamp, Taylor Cooperider, and Josh and Hannah Lovekamp; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Lanny Lee Lovekamp (surviving wife, Donna of Jacksonville) and five siblings, Earl, Russell, Vernon, and Harry Werries and Rena Stegeman.

Lucille was a graduate of Chapin High School and for many years, a house mother at the Illinois School for the Deaf. She was a devoted member of Salem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville where she was formerly active with the Lutheran Women’s Guild and, for over 66 years, with the Lutheran Women Missionary League.
